How this calculator works
Our EPC calculator shows you which home upgrades could boost your Energy Performance Certificate rating and by how much. You enter your current EPC band, property type, age, and existing features (insulation, heating, glazing), and the tool identifies the improvements that would have the biggest impact on your EPC score.
Each improvement is shown with its estimated EPC point gain, installation cost, annual energy savings, and payback period. The tool also highlights which upgrades may qualify for government grants under schemes like ECO4 or the BUS grant. A live EPC projection updates as you select improvements, so you can see the cumulative effect on your rating.
EPC ratings are calculated using the Standard Assessment Procedure (SAP), which considers dozens of factors. Our EPC cost calculator estimates are based on typical point improvements published by DESNZ and the Energy Saving Trust, but actual results depend on a full assessment by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor. This tool gives you a useful starting point for planning, not a guaranteed outcome.

How this estimator works
Our estimates are based on typical EPC point improvements published by the Energy Saving Trust, BEIS (now DESNZ), and the official EPC register. We adjust costs for your property type. Actual EPC results depend on a full assessment by a qualified Domestic Energy Assessor, who will consider your property's construction, age, orientation, and existing installations. This tool gives you a useful starting point, but it is not a substitute for a proper EPC survey.
