What data we collect

Newsletter subscribers

Your email address and, if you select them, your topic preferences. We collect this only with your explicit consent through our double opt-in process.

Contractor submissions

Business name, contact name, email address, trade, region, pricing data, website URL, and trade credentials. This is collected for the purpose of verifying and publishing your contributor listing.

Contact enquiries

Any personal information you include when contacting us via our contact page. We keep these only as long as needed to respond.

Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 which collects anonymised usage data including pages visited, time on page, and general location (country/region level). No personally identifiable information is collected in analytics. See Google's privacy policy.

To process and verify contractor submissions and publish your listing

Legal basis for processing

Consent - Newsletter subscriptions and optional contractor features. You can withdraw consent at any time.

Legitimate interests - Analytics to improve the site, responding to direct enquiries, security and fraud prevention.

Contract - Processing contractor submission details to fulfil the contributor agreement.

Where your data is stored

Newsletter and contractor data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL), hosted in the EU (London region). Email delivery uses a UK/EU-compliant provider. We do not transfer your data outside of the UK/EEA without appropriate safeguards in place.

How long we keep your data

Newsletter: Until you unsubscribe. We delete your record within 30 days of an unsubscribe request.

Contractor submissions: For as long as your listing is active, plus 12 months after you request removal.

Direct enquiries: Up to 12 months from last contact.

Sharing your data

We do not sell your personal data to anyone. We do not share your data with third parties for marketing purposes. We share data only with service providers necessary to operate the site (Supabase for storage, analytics providers), and only to the extent required by law.

Contractor business names, regions, and trade types are published publicly on the site as part of the contributor listing - this is what you sign up for when you submit prices.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you

Request deletion of your data
Withdraw consent at any time
Object to processing based on legitimate interests
Request restriction of processing
Data portability (where applicable)
